Escales Doc – Call for Entries 2021

The 21th International Festival of Creative Documentary, organized by the Escales Documentaires Association will be held from November 10th to 14th 2021, in La Rochelle, France.

The Festival is open to creative documentary films from all over the world, without any conditions of running time or theme. To participate and submit your film, the production date of your documentary must be after the 1st of June 2020.

The documentaries we solicit for our competitions must seek to capture complex issues of our time, through pluralist inspirations and diversified visions of authors.  We want these films to deeply enlighten the social, political, historical, environmental, economic or artistic realities of today’s world through singular cinematographic forms. It is important for us that during debates, documentaries offer a space for reflection and emotion that contribute to a greater understanding of mankind, of its situation and its environment. We will select documentaries that reveal a creative vision of our society’s issues.Up to 60 films may be selected and shown in one of the many categories of the Festival.

Among these, eight to ten documentaries will compete in the International Competition for the Grand Jury Award, endowed with 2 000 Euros with the support of one of our sponsors.

The films selected in the International Competition will also compete for the Audience Award, endowed with 1 000 Euros with the support of one of our sponsors.

As for the Youth Competition, this second competition gathers documentaries selected by students and young adults, and it awarded by young jury members; it is endowed with 1000 Euros by one of our sponsors.
